SBM SISU Became A New Member of EFMD and Organizer of IFSAM 2018 World Management Conference

During June 7--12, 2015, Professor Fan Zheng, Dean of SBM, and Director of the MBA Center, and Associate Professor Sun Jian, Deputy Director of the Oriental Management Research Center and Vice Director of the Academic Affairs Office, SISU, were invited to Brussels and Paris to participate in the 2015 EFMD Annual Conference and 2015 IFSAM Council by EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) and IFSAM (International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management).

More than 400 scholars and experts from 45 countries attended the conference. Based on the theme Impact, Passion & Creativity in Learning, the conference was divided into four plenary meetings (nerve management, quiet leadership, business schools and female roles of corporate governance, and new trend of learning–seek the path in changing times) and two sub-forums to explore new trends and path of learning and to help the participants to have more profound understanding of the new situation and trend of the education of business schools. The conference provided the opportunity for the participants to communicate with their colleagues and created adequate time and space for them to become familiar with each other and to achieve mutual understanding. During the meeting, Dean Fan Zheng discussed the accreditation issues with Eric Cornuel, CEO of EFMD, Michael Osbaldeston, Director of Quality Service, and Christian Delporte, Senior Advisers of Quality Service. They conducted in-depth exchanges with Miquel Espinosa Saenz, Director of the Spanish EADA Business School, Professor Stephen Murdoch, Deputy Dean of Lille School of Management and other deans of business schools from all around the world. This trip not only strengthens the contact with EFMD, but also shares the experience in the process of development of different business schools.

EFMD announced officially at the session that SBM, SISU has been accepted as a new member of EFMD. It lays a foundation for EQUIS and EPAS accreditation in the future.

After attending the EFMD Annual Conference, Dean Fan Zheng and his team, on behalf of the IFSAM China, hurried to France to attend the 2015 IFSAM Council Conference during June 9 to June 11. The SISU delegation bid to the organizing committee for holding the 2018 IFSAM World Management Conference. The Council voted to accept the application, formally approved the SBM, SISU to organize the IFSAM 2018 World Management Forum.

IFSAM World Management Conference is held every two years in the world, and the World Management Forum is held once a year in each IFSAM member country. SBM had co-hosted the 1997 First Management Forum and the East Management Forum, 2006 10th Management Forum and the East Management Forum with IFSAM; we also co-managed the 2008 World Congress. The success in bidding to host the 2018 IFSAM World Management Conference will have a profound impact on the development of management discipline in SISU.
