The 10th National Joint Conference of Deans and Heads of Public Relations Departments was Successfully Held

On August 24, the 10th national joint conference of deans and heads of public relations departments and public relations profession industry seminars was held in Guizhou Normal University. More than 50 representatives from universities, the PR industry and associations attended the conference and conducted a discussion on the theme of Optimization of curriculum system and teaching content of public relations undergraduate major under the background of new liberal arts. Wu Youfu, leader of public relations discipline of SISU, Pan Yu, dean of SBM, Yang Chen, director of public relations department and Jiao Mei, teacher of public relations major attended the conference.

At the opening ceremony, Xiong Shihuan, vice President of Guizhou Normal University, on behalf of the organizer, extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the development situation of guizhou normal university since its name was changed from Guizhou Institute of Education. Wu youfu, director of the national public relations dean joint conference committee, stressed that the major of public relations should actively do a good job in the transformation and upgrading work, to adapt to the new environment, develop new ideas, put forward new plans. Guo Huimin, vice president of the China association for international public relations and vice president of University of International Relations, pointed out in his speech that modern information technology will have a greater impact on public relations. The intersection of arts and sciences conforms to the interdisciplinary characteristics of public relations, but do not neglect humanistic care due to the emphasis on technology. Peng Guijun, vice chairman of Guizhou Public Relations Association, introduced the activities organized by public relations association of college students in Guizhou.

In the keynote speech, professor Pan Yu introduced the design ideas and content framework of the new training program of SISU's public relations major with the title of Digital Public Relations and Brand Management, and the forward-looking and powerful reform program and its guarantee measures, which aroused the warm response of the delegates. Following the guest dialogue, Xie Jingfen, general manager of Fangyuan Public Relations Company in Guangdong; Li Nan, founder of Beijing Linghe Yitian Advertising Company; Diao Fuli, general manager of Shenzhen Yashi Advertising Company; Sun Ruixiang, former President of Xinchuan College of Tianjin Normal University; Cao Yuteng, chief operating officer of Guizhou Hanksi Intelligent Technology Company shared materials and views from different perspectives such as Professional core competence required by public relations, Public relations undergraduate graduates in the eyes of advertising company executives, My take-away and further expectations during the undergraduate period of public relations, Public relations undergraduate education perceived by journalists, Public relations activities of high-tech companies and demand for public relations talents, which provided a rare opportunity for universities to revise their training programs.

During the discussion part, the participants were divided into the discussion group of cultivating application-oriented talents and the discussion group of cultivating application-oriented and research-oriented talents according to the different orientation of talents training specifications of each university, to study and discuss on training programs and national standards of teaching quality of public relations major in various universities, and discuss the optimization of curriculum system and teaching content of public relations major in detail. Representatives from universities and the industry worked together, both based on the public relations major and jumping out of the major, and carefully discussed the plan that met the needs of the times and combined with the actual situation of university in three hours. In order to fully listen to the opinions and suggestions, many universities representatives are scattered to participate in the activities of two groups at the same time. Xie Jian, dean of public relations department of Guizhou Normal University, and Shao Huadong, dean of public relations department of Communication University of China presided over the discussion of the two groups respectively.

At the closing ceremony, Dr. Xie Jian and Yang Liping, former director of public relations of Guangxi Financial Institute, reported the main points of group discussion to the conference, and the implementation of cross-transformation and upgrading of liberal arts and science became a consensus. Beijing Linghe Yitian Advertising company, Shenzhen Yashi Advertising Company and Dali University, Nanchang University, Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics, Southern College, Guizhou Normal College and other mid-western universities signed the public relations teaching practice base agreement. Liu Shaoting, director of public relations department of East China Normal University, summed up the meeting and pointed out that the conference had a good theme, broad vision and many inspirations.

Cheng Yanping, dean of business school of Guizhou Normal University, Yang Chen, secretary-general of the joint meeting committee, and Xue Pu, party secretary of business school of Guizhou Normal University , presided over the opening ceremony, keynote speech and closing ceremony respectively.

The national joint conference of deans (heads of departments) of public relations majors was founded in SISU in 2010. Since then, a conference has been held every year in universities offering undergraduate majors of public relations to discuss related issues of PR major. It has been held for 10 sessions, which is of great significance to the construction and development of public relations majors in Chinese universities.
