Abstract:
Economic forecasting is a very challenging topic or field of research. In the past decade or so, the Center for Forecasting Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) has played an important role in supporting the government's macro decision-making. Many institutions in the West, including the media, say that the Center for Forecasting Science of CAS is an important think tank for the Chinese government, on the ground that the TEI@I methodology has facilitated achievements in the field of economic forecasting, including successful prediction of China's GDP growth, commodity prices, and Chinese housing prices.

Wang Shouyang, Distinguished Research Fellow at Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changjiang Distinguished Professor, PhD Supervisor, Chinese National Science Fund Recipient for Distinguished Young Scholars. He also works as Academician of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and of International Academy of Systems and Cybernetics (IASC).
He received his PhD degree in Operations Research and Control from the Institute of Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) in 1986. He is currently the Dean of the School of Economics and Management of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Director of the Center for Forecasting Science, CAS. He has served as chief editor, executive editor, deputy editor or editor of 16 foreign academic journals including top international journals Energy Economics and Information and Management. Besides, he has been editor, executive editor or editor of 8 major Chinese journals. He is/was President of the International Society of Knowledge and Systems Sciences, Vice President of the International Institute of Global Optimization, President of Systems Engineering Society of China, and Member of the Advisory Committee of the Management Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation. He also works as part-time Professor or Honorary Professor at over 30 well-known universities at home and abroad.
