At the end of December 2022, SISU was successfully approved as the "Shanghai Key Laboratory of Brain-Machine Intelligence for Information Behavior (BMIB) ", which is the first provincial-level laboratory of science and technology in foreign language universities.

The laboratory focuses on the new problems and challenges of information behavior in the management field brought by the change of intelligent technology, and adopts the synergistic approach of brain science and artificial intelligence to carry out the research of information behavior, facing the national strategic needs, solving the difficult problems of the neck, serving the main battlefield of economy, and helping the construction of Chinese modernization.

The laboratory is supported by SISU, relying on the first-level discipline of business administration, and jointly built with the China Mobile Group Research Institute. It consists of "Key Laboratory of Brain and Cognitive Science Applications" and "Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Applications" established in 2015, "Magnetic Resonance Center" established in 2019 The "Artificial Intelligence Engineering Center" is merged and jointly formed. All the members and achievements in the declaration are from SBM. In the past five years, it has undertaken 46 national self-science projects such as the key of National Natural Science Foundation, with a cumulative research funding of more than 40 million yuan, and members have published more than 300 high-level research results in Science, Nature, PNAS, etc. They have been selected as a national major talent project. After a year and a half of preparation, communication and inspection, the final defense was passed and approved to enter the two-year construction preparation period.

The successful approval of the lab is another new step for SBM after the first-level disciplinary doctoral point in business administration in 2018 and the postdoctoral mobile station in 2019, which marks a new breakthrough in the transformation of management discipline into a digital intelligence and provides a new platform for better cultivation of research-oriented management talents. In the future, it will support the scientific exploration of the university's double first-class disciplines through open sharing and other forms, and contribute to the national strategy and Shanghai's economic construction with the power of SISU.
